Misty’s role:
I’m responsible for shaping how Austin Community Foundation is seen and understood across Central Texas. I guide the strategy to tell the Foundation’s story—sharing its impact, programs, and leadership on key community issues. By managing the Foundation’s brand, I work to build trust with donors, nonprofits, media, and community leaders, ensuring that all audiences understand the Foundation’s role as a catalyst for positive change in Central Texas.
What Misty likes most about working at the Foundation:
As a native Austinite, I’m proud to work for an organization committed to addressing the challenges of our growing city so that everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
What Misty did before:
I’ve spent two decades working as a strategic communicator. Before joining the Foundation, I worked in public relations at ECPR Texas, representing a diverse range of clients. I’ve also held communications roles at the Thinkery children’s museum, Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and the Texas Comptroller’s Office. After earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Texas State University, I started my career as a news producer for News 8 Austin (now known as Spectrum News).
Misty’s favorite thing to do in Central Texas:
I treasure the green spaces in Central Texas, and I love spending time outdoors with my husband, two teenagers, and our chocolate lab. You may also find me at a live music show around Austin or cheering on my kids during a sporting event.
