Derek’s role: My role is to assist and provide support in all financial matters including bank and investment reconciliations, financial reporting, and general ledger maintenance.
What Derek likes most about working at the Foundation: I like that Austin Community Foundation’s major focus is to improve the Austin area through impactful programs and initiatives. I also enjoy working with all of the great people at the Foundation!
What Derek did before: I have spent my professional career working in the nonprofit, tax, and investment accounting areas. My nonprofit experience has been the most rewarding since I enjoy how the financial data and numbers behind the scenes lead to an organization’s mission and goals. I am a CPA and I received my Masters of Accountancy from Texas State University.
Derek’s favorite thing to do in Central Texas: I enjoy music, riding my bike, and running the trails of Austin! In my free time, I love listening to live music and visiting local record stores. My music collection has grown to over 800 vinyl records!
