Central Texas is powered by people who strengthen our region each day—nonprofit leaders meeting community needs, donors investing in proven solutions, and companies leading with purpose.
At Austin Community Foundation, we have the privilege of working alongside every type of changemaker in our community. And once a year, Austin in Common brings many of them together in one room.
What is Austin in Common?
Since launching this event in 2024, Austin in Common has welcomed more than 1,000 unique individuals from across Central Texas—donors, nonprofit leaders, business professionals, and neighbors who care deeply about this community. Beyond just an event, it’s a night where the many threads of our shared work come together.
What makes Austin in Common unique is that it’s designed to spotlight the variety of ways people contribute to this region, and to show guests how they can be part of that impact. On stage, local storytellers reflect on how their personal and professional journeys intersect with Austin Community Foundation, illustrating how philanthropy can take shape in our community and how ACF serves as a trusted partner in that philanthropy. Around the room, guests experience the energy of a community that believes Central Texas can be stronger, more equitable, and more connected—if we choose to show up for it.

Isn’t philanthropy only for the wealthy?
Many people hear the word “philanthropy” and assume it isn’t for them, often picturing billionaires, private foundations, or large-scale donations. But as Kendall Antonelli, a speaker at last year’s event put it, “philanthropy isn’t about wealth—it’s about willingness.”
Community foundations like ACF exist to make philanthropy more accessible. Whether someone gives $100, volunteers their time, shares their expertise, or invests in a long-term vision for the region, each act of generosity contributes to a stronger community. Austin in Common is an opportunity to see, and feel, that truth in action.
Why does this matter now?
In a moment when so much can feel outside our control, gathering with those who care deeply about Central Texas can be grounding. It reminds us that our future isn’t solely determined by any one individual—it’s built collectively by the many people who choose to invest their time, energy, and resources into something bigger than themselves.
