Austin in Common began with a simple belief: when people come together around a shared vision for Central Texas, meaningful change is possible. Since 2024, the event has brought together more than 1,750 unique community members, philanthropists, nonprofit leaders, and changemakers who care deeply about the future of our region—and who believe we can accomplish more together than we ever could alone.
What began as a collaborative fundraising effort among Austin Community Foundation’s programs quickly grew into something larger. Early on, representatives from each of our strategic programs came together with a shared goal: to break down silos and create a collective approach to community impact. As Austin in Common evolved, so did its focus. Conversations expanded beyond individual initiatives to include broader issues shaping opportunity in Central Texas—from economic mobility and education to housing and long-term community investment.
Austin in Common’s Impact
That collaborative spirit helped us accomplish more than we imagined possible. Across three events, Austin in Common raised nearly $1.8 million to help close the opportunity gap in Central Texas. Over the past three years, our community’s growing investment in ACF—including the funds raised through Austin in Common—has supported more grantmaking to nonprofits, increased scholarships, and strengthened research that helps us better understand our community’s most pressing needs.
Just as importantly, Austin in Common created space for connection. Sponsors helped make it possible for nonprofit grant partners to be part of the event, ensuring it was more inclusive and reflected the community it was designed to bring together. Each year also highlighted local BIPOC- and women-owned vendors, reinforcing the importance of investing in the diverse businesses and entrepreneurs that shape Austin’s culture and economy.
Powered by Stories
The heart of Austin in Common has always been the people willing to share their stories. Over the years, speakers brought personal perspectives on leadership, opportunity, resilience, and community. Their stories reminded us that creating a stronger Central Texas requires all of us—across sectors, experiences, and neighborhoods—to see ourselves as part of a shared future.

Looking Forward
Whether you joined us in the room, supported from afar, sponsored the event, or shared your story on stage, thank you. Austin in Common would not have been possible without the many people who helped bring it to life, including our dedicated Host Committees and Co-Chairs, who helped ensure vibrant voices, perspectives, and community leaders were in the room. We’re also grateful to emcee Miles Bloxson, whose enthusiasm and energy helped shape the gathering for two consecutive years, and Cillia Marion and Harold Hardaway, whose thoughtful planning of logistics and programming brought to life our vision for the event.
As Austin in Common comes to a close in its current form, the work behind it continues. The event may evolve into something new, but the spirit that shaped it—collaboration, generosity, and community-centered action—will remain central to ACF.
Next year, Austin Community Foundation will reach a major milestone—50 years of generosity and impact. We look forward to celebrating with our community and building on all we have made possible together.
