Jana’s role:
My job is to provide assistance and support to the CFO in all financial and investment matters. I’m also responsible for the financial activities of the Foundation, including financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, investment accounting, and financial planning and analysis. This includes overseeing the annual budget, annual audit, and tax return preparation, and ensuring that the organization’s internal controls are functioning.
What Jana likes most about working at the Foundation:
I love being part of an organization with such a supportive and collaborative team whose primary goal is improving lives in our community. The Foundation fosters philanthropy and is a vehicle to create a lasting impact.
What Jana did before:
Throughout nearly three decades of accounting experience, I have spent most of those years in the nonprofit sector. Before joining the Austin Community Foundation, I worked as Finance Director for the Community Foundation of Abilene, Texas. I graduated with a BBA in Accounting from Hardin-Simmons University, and I am a certified CPA.
Jana’s favorite thing to do in Central Texas:
I love all the amazing things to do in Austin and the surrounding areas, including the endless entertainment options, fantastic restaurants, and beautiful parks and scenery. Before moving to Austin, I was very involved in my children’s activities as they grew up, the Junior League of Abilene, and various other nonprofits. I love spending time with my family and friends, reading, watching movies, attending concerts and sporting events, and being outdoors.
