At Austin Community Foundation, we bring together people, ideas, and resources to make Central Texas a better place. In September, we gathered 18 fundholders at Mobile Loaves & Fishes’ (MLF) Community First! Village, for a morning of connection, learning, and inspiration. Over coffee and breakfast, fundholders had the chance to hear directly from MLF’s Founder & CEO, Alan Graham, and see firsthand how philanthropy can transform lives.
Inspiration from the Village
What began as a modest dream—an RV park to provide stability for people experiencing chronic homelessness—has grown into a nationally recognized model of community. Today, Community First! Village is home to 470 residents in a thriving neighborhood built with care, compassion, and collaboration.

MLF Founder & CEO, Alan Graham, speaking to ACF fundholders
Alan’s story reminded us that big change starts with a shared vision and is only possible when partners come together, including engineers, architects, nonprofits, neighbors, and, importantly, you—our community of givers. Since 2020, ACF funds have granted $1.9 million to support Mobile Loaves & Fishes’ work, a testament to the impact we can make when we pool resources for the common good.
ACF’s Role in Philanthropy
For nearly 50 years, individuals, families, and businesses have partnered with ACF to align their giving with the issues they care about most. People turn to the community foundation for our deep understanding of local needs and opportunities. We work closely with nonprofits and community leaders to pinpoint pressing challenges and mobilize effective solutions.
Our strategic focus on economic mobility and housing affordability has also guided us to fuel initiatives like Women’s Fund, the Hispanic Impact Fund, and the Housing Accelerator Loan Fund—all designed to create long-term, systemic change.
Why We Bring Fundholders Together
Events like this are not just about seeing impact—they are about being in community together. Fundholders come to:

- Connect with peers who share a passion for giving
- Learn about the challenges and opportunities facing Central Texas
- Spark new ideas for philanthropy and collective impact
When we gather, we are reminded that philanthropy is not a solitary act. It is a shared journey, and ACF is here to partner with fundholders every step of the way.
“Thank you for including me in the tour of Mobile Loaves and Fishes… I walked away really impressed by both MLF and ACF. Thank you for all you do to highlight, support, and develop nonprofits in Austin.” – Tour Attendee
