Across Central Texas, the need for safe, stable, and affordable housing continues to grow—and so does the commitment to meeting that need with creativity, collaboration, and urgency.
In 2025, Austin Community Foundation’s Housing Accelerator Loan Fund reached several important milestones, reflecting the power of innovative financing and community partnership to move affordable housing projects forward more quickly.
A Year of Momentum
The Housing Accelerator Loan Fund invested $6.3 million in three new projects last year, helping bring approximately 221 affordable homes into development. These projects—Bailey at Berkman, Ovetta Rosedale, and Goodnight Ranch—will serve our region’s most vulnerable neighbors, including veterans, youth aging out of foster care, individuals with disabilities, and families needing a place to call home.
The Fund’s model is intentionally designed to maximize long-term impact. As loans are repaid, capital is recycled into new projects, creating a sustainable revolving source of financing. In 2025 alone, three loans were successfully repaid, allowing those dollars to be reinvested into the next round of affordable housing solutions.
These milestones, along with additional data and outcomes, are highlighted in the 2025 Housing Accelerator Loan Fund Report.
A Transformational New Investment
We are excited to announce a major new commitment from St. David’s Foundation: a $6 million grant that significantly expands the reach of the Housing Accelerator Loan Fund.
This investment aligns with St. David’s Foundation’s belief that safe, healthy, affordable housing is a critical foundation for health outcomes. As part of its broader Housing + Health 2.0 initiative—a regional effort focused on expanding affordable housing capacity—St. David’s Foundation is investing in cross-sector solutions that strengthen the entire housing ecosystem.
With this new grant, the Housing Accelerator Loan Fund now stands at $24.2 million, increasing our ability to provide fast, flexible financing for future projects and helping more developers move ideas into action.
