Austin Community Foundation Names Anthony Hedger Chief Financial Officer

AUSTIN, TEXAS — Austin Community Foundation (ACF) today announced that Anthony Hedger has joined the organization as Chief Financial Officer. Hedger, who began his role on June 1, brings more than 25 years of financial leadership experience across nonprofit and private sector organizations.

Hedger steps into the role as ACF continues to experience significant growth in assets, grantmaking, and community investment. As CFO, he will help guide the Foundation’s financial strategy, accounting, investment oversight, risk management and long-term planning, supporting ACF’s continued role as a trusted philanthropic partner for Central Texas. In his role, Hedger will also support ACF’s growing impact investment work, including FundATX and the Housing Accelerator Loan Fund, which use flexible capital to advance community priorities such as economic mobility and housing affordability.

Hedger most recently served as CFO of PeopleFund, a Texas-based nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). During his tenure, PeopleFund doubled its impact deploying more capital than it had in its previous 25 years, launching new innovative programs including Small Business Accelerators and $100 million deployed through Veteran Loan Fund, and modernized accounting processes through the implementation of Oracle NetSuite ERP.

“Anthony brings the financial expertise, strategic perspective and commitment to stewardship that are essential to Austin Community Foundation’s next chapter,” said Mike Nellis, CEO of Austin Community Foundation. “His leadership will help position ACF for continued growth and greater impact across Central Texas.”

Hedger’s experience spans nonprofit and private sector leadership, investment strategy, federal fund and grant accounting, compliance, finance and audit committee engagement, and organizational growth. Before joining PeopleFund, he served as CFO and Chief Administration Officer of Houston SPCA, where he helped lead a major capital campaign and managed the organizations’ investment portfolio strategy. Earlier in his career, he held senior finance roles with Rolls-Royce, Petronas-AET, CFS Bank, Vodafone and other global organizations, where he led complex budgets, international finance teams and strategic transformation initiatives.

“Austin Community Foundation is a leader in mobilizing resources to meet some of Central Texas’ most pressing challenges, and I’m honored to join the organization at such an important time,” said Hedger. “I look forward to strengthening the financial foundation that supports this work and helping ensure ACF can continue to grow its impact for donors, nonprofits, and the broader community.”

Hedger holds a B.A. in Accounting and Finance and an MBA from Lancaster University. His professional credentials include Certified Management Accountant, Chartered Global Management Accountant and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
