Scholarship Selection Committee Resources
Thank you for serving on a selection committee for one of the Foundation’s scholarship funds. Austin Community Foundation is grateful to help you fuel students toward their educational goals.
Our online scholarship management system streamlines the application and review process and also means more qualified students can learn about and apply for your scholarship.
Please see the tips and information below to learn about how this impacts your role as a selection committee member reviewing scholarships.
Before it is time to review applications, what can I do to help?
Please share the application link. Throughout the scholarship season our staff promotes your scholarship. Please feel free to share the application link with your contacts and network. austincf.academicworks.com
Communicate with the other selection committee members. Please watch for communication from the scholarship chair, about meeting date and time. If you are a scholarship chair, or fundholder please make sure you communicate with your committee regarding your specific review process and timeline.
Learn about the online reviewing portal. We will offer two training sessions in late March for all to attend. If you would prefer to learn on your own, or want a preview of the reviewer portal prior to these trainings, please watch this video.
It’s time to review applications. What do I need to know?
Applications are accepted online, and our system ensures each applicant is qualified for your scholarship. The day after your scholarship’s deadline you will receive an email with a link giving you access to the applications for your review.
Start reviewing scholarship applications
Once logged into our scholarship portal, you can start reviewing. It might be helpful to watch this video.
Work with your scholarship committee to select recipients
You will work with your scholarship chair and other committee members to review applicants and select your scholarship recipients. The online application and review process does not require you to change any aspect of your decision process.
Submit necessary forms to Foundation staff
After you have selected scholarship recipients, please complete the following forms. No scholarships will be awarded or announced until our staff has receive these forms:
- Individual Confidentiality Form - This form needs to be completed by every member of the scholarship selection committee. If you are on more than one committee, please complete a separate form for each committee you serve on.
- Overall Selection Committee Report - This form needs to be completed by the Committee Chair. Only one form per committee is required. Please discuss within your committee to make sure this form is completed.
