Before You Get Started

It's easy to apply online for a grant from the Foundation.

First, you will create an account in the Online Grant Application Portal. Then you will log on to start a new grant application. You can save your application as a draft and log on later to edit your draft and submit the application. Each account maintains a record of the application history that you can access at any time.

We recommend that you carefully read the instructions and reference materials here before registering and starting your first application.

All applicants, including those who have applied through our previous system, are required to create an account. At the time of registration you are required to enter the following information:

  • A username that is an email address*

  • Your organization’s information, including the EIN/Tax ID number (required)

*A user account can only be connected to one organization at a time. If you are a grantwriter for multiple organizations, please contact us to discuss your options.

Managing your online account

Once your account is set up, you can do the following:

  • Begin the application process
  • Access application drafts and submitted applications

Helpful tips when applying

  • For the best user experience when accessing our Online Grant Application Portal, we suggest using Internet Explorer. Other browsers may work, but you may encounter some minor technical issues.
  • Organizations who have received a grant through one of the Foundation's other grant rounds, such as the Women's Fund, Summer STEM Collaborative, or the Hispanic Impact Fund, may apply to the Community Grant Program during the same year.
  • See a sample grant application
  • Download our project budget template, then complete it for your project and upload it to your application as requested.

Questions about your online application

I answered the eligibility questions but can't access the application. What do I do?

A: The eligibility quiz is designed to help you determine if your proposal will qualify for a grant. If you have answered the questions and are unable to access the application, it is likely that your proposal will not meet the requirements for funding. However, if you feel that your proposal does meet the requirements for funding, contact the Foundation.

What are "cookies" and how do I disable them?

A: If your privacy settings are set to reject cookies, you may not be able to access the online grant application. Cookies are small text files that websites put on your computer to store information about your preferences. This allows the website to save the information you enter into the application. Information is not collected for any other reason. To allow cookies in Internet Explorer, the browser we recommend, follow these steps:

1.  Open Internet Explorer.
Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
3.  Click the Privacy tab, and then, under Settings, move the slider to the top to block all cookies or to the bottom to allow all cookies, and then click OK.

How can I access my saved in-progress application?

A. When you save an in-progress grant application, you will receive an automatic email with your tracking number and a link to the log-in page of your online application form. This is the only way to retrieve your application.  Clicking on the link to start a new application will NOT take you to your saved application(s).

If I can't find the link to log in to my saved application, what do I do?

What file formats will be accepted for attachments?

A. Most file types are accepted including Word, Excel, and PDF formats. Files with "exe", "com", "vbs", or "bat" extensions cannot be uploaded. The maximum size for all attachments combined is 75 MB. If your attachments are larger than 75 MB combined, please contact the Foundation.

How do I know that you have received my application?

A. You will receive an automatically generated email from the Foundation confirming that your application has been received. The email will include a copy of your application as it was submitted through the online grants manager.
