Highland Lakes Legacy Fund Advisory Board

Dr. Chris Allen

Dr. Chris Allen is the Superintendent of Marble Falls Independent School District. Allen joins MFISD from neighboring Lake Travis Independent School District, where he served as the District's Deputy Superintendent since May of 2012. He has also worked as a Principal, Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services and the Interim Superintendent for Midway Independent School District. Dr. Allen, his wife, Natalie, and their two children moved to Marble Falls in 2015. In addition to his work with the Legacy Fund, he has also served on city boards, service clubs, church committees, as well as other committees at Baylor University.

Jean Anderson
Jean earned her degree from Northwestern University. She and her husband, Ken have lived in Horseshoe Bay since 1992. Jean has served on the Board of Directors or as a member of numerous nonprofit, civic and charitable organizations such as the Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center, serving two terms as Board President and chairing the Fund Development Committee for the new administrative offices and shelter; Hill Country Community Theatre; Highland Lakes Service League; Horseshoe Bay Associates of the Seton Development Board; Burnet County Republican Club; Burnet County Republican Women and the Scott & White Executive Steering Committee. She presently serves on the Baylor, Scott & White Medical Center-Marble Falls Foundation Development Advisory Board. Jean has chaired numerous committees and been instrumental in the success of several capital campaigns.

Suzanne Brown

Originally from Seguin, Texas, Suzanne Brown graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in public relations. She and her husband Dale Brown live in Marble Falls where they are long-time local business leaders. Suzanne has been involved with Faith Academy, a University Model Christian school, since it opened in 1989 serving on the academic, hospitality and athletic committees and volunteering as the Athletic Assistant . She also worked as academic counselor at the school. She attends the Methodist Church, where she's volunteered for the past 27 years, presently serving on the Welcoming committee, teaching the Newcomers Sunday School class, organizing trips for the women of the church and planning fundraisers. After retiring, Suzanne joined her husband's real estate business in Marble Falls.

Midge Dockery

A Hill Country native, Midge Dockery is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Marketing. She is the Business Development Coordinator for the Marble Falls Economic Development Corporation where she oversees business retention and expansion efforts as well as marketing. Midge has worked in the nonprofit arena for over 14 years and has over 24 years’ experience working with individuals, public, corporate and civic organizations. For ten years she led the Legacy Fund as director. As an active member and volunteer of community, school and civic events, Midge enjoys spending her spare time working and relaxing outdoors at her family’s ranch.

Kara Y. Dudley

Kara Dudley attended Marble Falls schools, graduating at the top of her class. She earned a dual Bachelor of Business Administration and Master in Professional Accounting from The University of Texas at Austin. Kara worked in Houston for several energy companies in finance and business strategy. In 2008, Kara and her husband James relocated to Horseshoe Bay. Since returning home, Kara has served on several boards for area non-profits and trade organizations including CASA for the Highland Lakes, Highland Lakes Chapter of the Texas Exes, and Texas Hill Country Wineries.

Jerry Edwards

Jerry and his wife, Carolyn, a former teacher in Marble Falls, have lived in Marble Falls for over 45 years. Jerry has been involved in the American Water Ski Association (AWSA), serving as a judge, president, and chairman of the board nationally and internationally and as coach of the USA Water Ski Team. Jerry and his family own Edwards Risk Management, a risk management and consulting firm assisting public entities in Texas and several other states. He served 12 years on the Marble Falls ISD school board, including nine years as president; three years on the Texas Association of School Boards Board (TASB); and ten years as an Executive with TASB. He has been active in many other community and church activities in Marble Falls.

Jeff Gasaway 
Jeff is the Assistant Superintendent of Administration for Marble Falls ISD. He began his career in education in 1996 and served as an athletic trainer, teacher, coach and administrator. He moved from Midway ISD where he was Midway High School Principal since June of 2011. Jeff, his wife Kara, and their two sons moved to Marble Falls in the summer of 2016. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech University, his Master of Education degree from Texas A&M-Commerce University, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate degree at Baylor University. 

Luke Nunnally 
Luke Nunnally was born and raised in Marble Falls. He graduated from Faith Academy of Marble Falls in 2003 and from Mary-Hardin Baylor in 2007. While in college he developed an advertising strategy that expanded to 16 universities across the United States. Luke married his wife Meghan in 2008. Upon her pregnancy in 2014, he sold his business and moved home to raise their son Stuart as a fourth generation Nunnally in Marble Falls.

Susan Turner Pierce
Susan Pierce has worked in the banking industry for more than thirty years. She attended Texas A&M University and The Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University. She is currently the President of the Hill Country Banking Centers for Grand Bank of Texas where she is also on the Board of Directors. Susan previously served on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of the Highland Lakes for ten years, the Planning and Zoning committee for the City of Marble Falls, the City of Marble Falls Downtown Revitalization Committee and the IBAT Leadership Committee where she was president . She currently serves on the IBAT Legislative Committee, as Secretary of the Women’s Council of Realtors of the Highland Lakes and Treasurer and Board Member of The Phoenix Center.

John P. Racz

John Racz retired as a senior executive after a 37-year career with Exxon Corporation and moved to the Highland Lakes area with his wife, Barbara, in 1991. He soon began his involvement with area nonprofits, joining the Board of the Friends of the Marble Falls Library. John also served as Project Manager for the new Library building, playing a key fundraising role. He has served as president of the Board of the Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center. John was on the Board of the Boys and Girls Club of the Highland Lakes for 13 years, working on fund raising and serving as Project Manager of the new Club building. John was also involved in getting Texas Tech University to the area, serving two 3-year terms on the Board of the Texas Tech Foundation. John is a charter member of the Highland Lakes Legacy Fund and serves as Board Chair. For the past several years he helped bring the Scott & White Clinic and Hospital to the area.

Michael Thames
Michael Thames is Executive Director of Camp of the Hills, a nonprofit ministry that has three endowments through the Legacy Fund. Michael has a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology from The University of Texas at Arlington. Michael served in inner-city ministry for 12 years in Fort Worth before moving to the Hill Country in 2011. He is a member of the Marble Falls Noon Rotary Club and active in other community service organizations and projects. Michael and his wife, Cara, have three children, Tristan, Brendan and Eden.
